NJ Vaginoplasty | New Jersey Vaginal Tightening

Vaginoplasty, also referred to as NJ vaginal tightening, is a plastic surgery procedure designed to tighten the internal muscles of the vagina which may have become stretched through child birth. Good candidates for vaginoplasty include women who feel that their vaginal canal is too loose.

Dr. Rosenberg performs New Jersey vaginoplasty in our certified Fort Lee ambulatory surgery facility and patients return home the same day.

The procedure takes about one hour to complete and may be performed with general anesthesia or local anesthesia and sedation. The incision for vaginoplasty is made on the posterior (rear) floor of the vagina. All external sutures are dissolvable over the course of 30-45 days so postoperative wound care is quite comfortable and easy.

During the procedure, all incisions for NJ vaginal tightening are internal, so there are no external scars visible. Once the incision is made, a portion of the posterior vaginal wall is excised and the muscles are tightened.

Recovery after vaginoplasty takes about one to two weeks. Patients may feel a bit sore after the procedure, and light bleeding may occur during the first day after surgery. Bruising and mild swelling may also be present and these side effects usually fade within one to two days.

Though many patients are able to return to work 3-5 days after surgery, more strenuous activities will need to be postponed for four to six weeks, including activities involving intimacy.

New Jersey vaginoplasty is often performed in conjunction with labiaplasty, which is also described in this section. For more information on these plastic surgery procedures, please contact our NJ cosmetic surgery center.
