Botox® (technically known as “Botulinum toxin type A”) is an injection that is able to smooth wrinkles caused by facial movements such as smiling or frowning. It is the most popular of the class of neuromodulators along with Dysport and Xeomin, all of which are available at Palisade Plastic Surgery. These injectable treatments work by blocking the muscular nerve signals, which weaken the muscles so they can’t contract to form wrinkles in the overlying skin.  It is important to have a well informed sense of the anatomy and interplay of the facial muscles to render balanced youthful rejuvenation without distortions or asymmetries.

What is the difference between Botox, Dysport and Xeomin?

1) Formulation: Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin have slightly different formulations of botulinum toxin type A. Botox contains onabotulinumtoxinA, Dysport contains abobotulinumtoxinA, and Xeomin contains incobotulinumtoxinA.
