Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

Conveniently located to serve the areas of New Jersey and the Tri-state Area

A breast lift is a procedure that raises your breasts on your chest wall by removing excess skin in order to restore a perkier and more youthful appearance.

Before and After Photos

Whether from the natural effects of aging, hormonal changes with breastfeeding or significant weight loss, breasts may develop an unflattering sagginess that can only be addressed by surgical intervention.

Depending on the size and shape of the breasts, together with the degree of sagging and amount of excess skin, Dr. Rosenberg and Dr. Pathak will determine an appropriate incisional approach, mindful of a patient’s concerns regarding scarring.  This may include an incision around the areola and down to the breast crease in a lollipop shape, or in cases of more significant sagging an extension that incision is made along the inframammary fold crease in what is often referred to as “anchor shape” scar.  An aesthetic approach to elevating the breast tissue helps in creating a breast shape that is optimal in proportions, with our surgeons being particularly adept at precisely positioning the nipple and resizing of the areola involved in this procedure.

  • Augmentation-Mastopexy

Reconciling a patient’s breast (gland/fat) composition and desires for upper breast fullness placement of a small or moderately sized implant may be recommended at the time of your mastopexy to best restore or augment the superior pole of the breast. Schedule a consultation to determine your candidacy for this combined breast enhancement and rejuvenation option.

FAQ

“Elevate your beauty, rediscover your natural confidence!”

Am I a suitable candidate for a breast lift?

If you are bothered by breasts that have lost their shape and firmness due to factors such as aging, pregnancy, weight fluctuations, or genetics, you may be a suitable candidate for a breast lift. Good candidates are in good overall health, have realistic expectations about the outcome, and understand that a breast lift does not significantly change the size of the breasts. Consultation with a qualified plastic surgeon is crucial to assess your individual case and determine if a breast lift is the right option for you.

Will a breast lift increase the size of my breasts?

A breast lift primarily addresses sagging and reshapes the breasts for a more lifted appearance. While some patients may experience a minor increase in breast volume due to the tightening and repositioning of the breast tissue, a breast lift alone does not significantly change the size or fullness of the breasts. If you desire both a lift and an increase in breast size, a breast lift can be combined with breast augmentation using implants to achieve your desired outcome.

What is the recovery process like after a breast lift?

After a breast lift, you may experience temporary swelling, bruising, and discomfort. You will be required to wear a supportive bra or surgical garment to aid in healing and provide support to the newly lifted breasts. It is important to follow your surgeon’s post-operative instructions, including avoiding strenuous activities, heavy lifting, and sleeping on your stomach or side for a specified period. Most patients can return to work within a week or two, depending on their job’s physical demands. Full recovery and the final results may take several months as the breasts settle into their new position and the incision lines fade.
