Labiaplasty / Vaginoplasty

Conveniently located to serve the areas of New Jersey and the Tri-state Area

Many women suffer from enlarged labia minora (the inner genital lips). Some may not like the appearance of their large, uneven or thick labia, which can sometimes extend beyond the labia majora. Others may be bothered by labial irritation while conducting normal activities, or may find it difficult to keep the labial area clean. Still others may experience pain during sexual intercourse, sports or other vigorous activities.

These are all typical concerns that come up during consultation, and for each patient a customized treatment plan to reduce large or reshape uneven labia is formulated to best address them.

The reduction procedure can be done under local anesthesia with little down time.  If you are interested in this procedure or would like to know more about it, schedule a consultation today.

What can I expect during the recovery period after labiaplasty or vaginoplasty?

After labiaplasty or vaginoplasty, there will be some swelling, bruising, and discomfort in the treated area. You will be given specific post-operative instructions, including proper hygiene practices, pain management, and avoiding strenuous activities. Sexual activity may need to be avoided for a certain period as advised by your surgeon.

Will labiaplasty or vaginoplasty affect sexual sensation?

Labiaplasty is primarily focused on altering the appearance of the labia and should not significantly affect sexual sensation. Vaginoplasty may lead to increased friction during intercourse and potentially enhance sexual satisfaction for some individuals by restoring vaginal tightness.

Can labiaplasty or vaginoplasty be combined with other procedures?

Yes, labiaplasty or vaginoplasty can be combined with other procedures if desired. For example, it is common to combine labiaplasty with clitoral hood reduction or vaginoplasty with perineoplasty. The combination of procedures will be tailored to each patient’s needs and desired outcomes.

What is the difference between labiaplasty and vaginoplasty?

Yes, there is a difference between labiaplasty and vaginoplasty.

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that involves altering the size or shape of the labia minora (inner lips) or labia majora (outer lips) of the vagina. It is primarily focused on the aesthetic appearance of the labia. Labiaplasty can be performed to reduce the size of enlarged labia, correct asymmetry, or improve the overall appearance of the labia. The procedure aims to address concerns such as discomfort, self-consciousness, or dissatisfaction with the appearance of the labia.

On the other hand, vaginoplasty is a surgical procedure that aims to tighten the vaginal muscles and tissues. It is typically performed to restore or enhance vaginal tone and tightness, especially after childbirth or due to age-related changes. Vaginoplasty involves removing excess tissue, tightening the muscles, and suturing them together to achieve a narrower vaginal canal.

While labiaplasty focuses on the labia’s appearance, vaginoplasty focuses on tightening the vaginal canal. The two procedures can be performed independently or combined, depending on the patient’s specific concerns and goals. It’s important to consult with a qualified plastic surgeon to discuss your individual needs and determine which procedure, or combination of procedures, is most suitable for you.
